Higher-lumen LED designs in the general illumination market are fueling interest and product demand. Lower lumen output is sufficient for accent lighting but not effective for general illumination. Passive cooling doesn't work for general illumination designs – high-brightness LEDs get too hot for a standalone heatsink. Power LED's in high-lumen applications can be cooled effectively, however, by SynJet's patented technology.
