Field Applications Engineer

Job Description
Position Summary: The candidate for this position is expected to manage the technical relationship between key sales accounts and Nuventix Engineering. They must have a firm grasp of basic heat transfer as well as previous experience supporting the sales of thermal management solutions. This role has a strong dual nature which involves being a solid engineer as well as a solid account manager. They must be able to rapidly comprehend and utilize Nuventix's proprietary simulation tools and also work to understand the customers' needs so that the account is skillfully managed. The candidate must also have exemplary written and verbal skills, and possess an attitude that is highly customer focused. Experience evangelizing new technology to customers is a huge asset in this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Meet face to face with customers and accurately assess the thermal challenges their products present.
  • Be the lead thermal engineer for customers that lack technical expertise and help design their products.
  • Communicate effectively with Nuventix Engineering as well as the customer.
  • Be able to articulate technical requirements in well-written proposals.
  • Provide technical training & leadership to Avnet America and manufacturers' representatives.
  • Self-confidence to firmly and fairly represent the customers' engineering team within Nuventix and vice-versa.

Job Requirements
Education and Skills: 

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical engineering required, MS preferred.
  • 3+ years of work as an engineer responsible for solving forced air convection thermal design problems.
  • Self-starter able to prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Experience with CFD tools such as ICEPAK and FLOTHERM.
  • High level of skill with MS Office applications
  • 25% - 50% travel required.
